About the Role
The Department of Agriculture is excited to announce four openings for the role of Administrative Officer: Assets Management Services. Based in the vibrant city of Pretoria, this position is crucial for ensuring that the department’s assets are managed efficiently and effectively. As an Administrative Officer, you will play a vital role in supporting the government’s mission to provide sustainable agricultural services, impacting local communities and the lives of South Africans daily.
In this role, you will be entrusted with monitoring and implementing asset management policies and procedures, as well as maintaining accurate asset registers. Your contributions will directly influence how the department tracks asset movement, conducts audits, and prepares reports, ultimately enhancing the transparency and accountability of public service operations.

What You’ll Do
- Monitor and implement asset management policies and procedures effectively.
- Maintain and update the asset register for accuracy and compliance.
- Track the movement and location of assets within the department.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure asset integrity and compliance with regulations.
- Prepare detailed reports on asset performance and status for management review.
- Coordinate asset disposal management services as required.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF level 6 qualification recognised by SAQA.
- A qualification in Financial Management, Auditing, Cost Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Purchasing Management, Business Management, or Financial Accounting is advantageous.
- A minimum of 1-2 years’ relevant experience in a Supply Chain Management environment or related field.
- A valid driver’s license (except for people with disabilities).
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Knowledge of Programme & Project Management and Supply Chain Management legislative frameworks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Good interpersonal skills and record-keeping abilities.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
